ACTOR, ILLUSTRATOR,

PLAYWRIGHT, & DIRECTOR

Harris Singer is an actor, illustrator, playwright, and director.

New York City-based, but born in Atlanta, Georgia.

He graduated from New York University with a BFA in theatre, focusing on Shakespeare and playwriting.

He is the Artistic Director/founder of The Fool Volk (Previously in residence at La MaMa Galleria).

His work often embodies a queer absurdist lens, probes theatrical forms/structure to include both a classical rigor and experimental play, mixes mediums (puppetry, dynamic movement, horror, tattoo, performance art, food, etc), and most importantly bursts with whimsy

Harris argues for a theater that utilizes the medium to its fullest: taking advantage of audience participation, scent, the body, tasks, time, etc.

Harris often acts in his own work where he tests the limits of performance.

This has involved covering himself in maple syrup, sharing stories about his sex life, and even tattooing himself naked on stage

In his visual art he more explicitly explores intimacy and violence through meditative, intricate pen works.
